While reading an abstract on a paper* introducing a theory on the complexity of evolutionary search effectiveness of natural selection as a learning process, I grinned at the courage of the authors to use this terminology.
"A variational formulation of natural selection is introduced, paying special attention to the nature of ‘things’ and the way that different ‘kinds’ of ’ things’ are individuated from—and influence—each other."Context here: things = individual parts and the assembly of these parts
