Storms Within

Come
Take me
Cauterize my bleeding heart
Cover my silence with your mouth
My breath is yours
Your taste is mine
As you lose yourself
Inside me.

Close
The gap
The chasm widens deeper
Always reaching
And pulling back
Afraid to give each other
Echoes of yesterday foul
Our todays.

Touching
Not embracing
Fear dictates the tempest
The emptiness inside us
Fleeting whispers
Tentative words
Storms reflected in
our eyes.

Your writing consistently impresses me. I saw the shot of you and Whee. You looked like you were in your element. I hope you had a great time, and look forward to your writing about it.

  3. It's been awhile since I looked at comments here. I am honored and humbled by the compliments and that people really read my writing.

Whee and I recently completed a 14-day journey, and we plan to make many more. Our journeys are documented on my other blog site, Riding Two Wheels.

Although some poetry is on the other site, this one just didn't fit in a motorcycle blog. I put it here for several reasons.

    Hey Elzi!

Long time. I met you down in Texas for an infamous barbecue a couple years ago. I was just contemplating another riding writer that I admire and it occurred to me I'd lost track of you. Good thing Google hasn't.

I really, really admire your writing. You're a very interesting and insightful author. Your poetry rocks, too. I especially like this one.

Whenever someone mentions VStrom, the image of your "Whee" in my head is an automatic response. I'm glad to hear you're still sucking all the juice out of it.

    Best,
    Mike

  5. Mike?? Wow, I thought you dissipated into the Netherworld!
Good to hear from you! I confess I don't post here frequently. Instead nearly all my writing is now posted on my other blog:

Most of my writing now is about riding and related adventures. Do you still have my email addy?

    Hey Elzi,

I don't have your email addy. Mine hasn't changed, if you remember it.

I'm glad you're still around, thinking about stuff, and writing it down so well. You're really a very, very talented writer. Regardless of what you choose to elaborate, I always find myself munching through what's on your mind, eagerly, all the way to the end. Like eating Chinese, I'm instantly hungry again. Ha!

I've got a couple of trip lined up for the summer on the FJR. Asheville, NC next weekend to stay with old friends during a "Solstice Festival", then Golden, CO in July, also on the Feej.

My trip to Tierra del Fuego is still on the back burner...going to need a self-confident and capable riding partner on a sturdy steed for that one....I don't think there are any. Are there? (heh)

    Best,
    Mike
